Meir Raz creates abstract works that are inspired by his hometown of Haifa, Israel. Raz's paintings are his interpretation of the urban and natural landscapes that surround him. Working with a variety of materials, which include wood and mechanical tools, allows him to create textured works through unconventional methods. Raz’s work is a culmination of memories, events, and feelings which he expresses through his use of a bold color palette, reminiscent of the vivid sunlight of Haifa.
Raz's recent body of work includes a foray into sculpture; reflecting his deference towards nature, his sculptures are made from found or reused materials, demonstrating an ecological approach.
