Indian artist Kavita Jaiswal’s ink-on-paper paintings appeal to the universal feelings of peace, love, and compassion that inhabit each one of us. Her work bears testimony to her search for the ‘Universal Eternal,’ as the only permanent reality in this dynamic world of transient forms. As such, Jaiswal’s quest for silence and stillness finds sublime expression in abstraction, where free-flowing expansive compositions capture the continuum of time and the infinite wisdom of the universal self. Blocks of earthy translucent color rest on delicate structures tied by a quasi-invisible thread, as if to symbolize the intangible forces whereupon our world resides. Harnessing the loose dilations of ink and the porous vulnerability of paper, Jaiswal holds a mirror up to our true potential of bliss and divine awakening.
