Rare, mystical Lipizzaner horses, striking slivers of Italy’s centuries-old canals; these are only some of the defining features captured by Hungarian German fine-art photographer Károly Pump. For 28 years, the artist and freelance photographer has traveled in a RV across the continents of Europe, Asia, and Africa capturing their infinite cultures and geographical beauties. Pump believes there is no such thing as the same image, so with every new setting and subject, he courageously delves into these contents to produce captivating photographs that reflect the differences he so daringly sought after. Inspired by great Impressionists like Paul Cézanne and Franc Marc, Pump’s intent for his artwork is to leave audiences with complete, lasting notions of serenity, joy, and curiosity. “In our fast-moving, unpredictable time, in which nowadays hardly anyone has a moment, the viewer should be given an irrevocable, unforgettable atmosphere of eternity through my images.”
Pump’s work has been featured in notable books, calendars, and publications. He is the recipient of Sappi European of the Year, the Red Dot Design award, and the Good Design Award. Pump has been a member of the Association Internationale Des Arts Plastiques, a UNESCO-affiliated organization, since 1985. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of Pump’s Venice photographs will be donated to Save Venice Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the artistic heritage of Venice.
