Shraddha Pundeer

New Jersey-based Indian artist Shraddha Pundeer offers delicate glimpses into the intimacy of her feelings and surroundings. Her paintings capture the simple beauty of her everyday world; a world where she seeks the freedom to be her genuine self, despite any societal impositions. A clothing designer for most of her life, Pundeer’s subjects recall the elegant sinuosity of fashion illustrations. Graceful silhouettes espouse a soft color palette of pinks, light blues, and beiges; conveying an aura of romantic abandon that pervades her entire oeuvre. Pundeer defines her style as “figurative abstraction,” which combines loose figurative elements with non-representational forms inspired by nature. This unique blend of reality and fantasy is the key to Pundeer’s fierce exploration of the self and her domestic milieu.

Pundeer grew up in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, surrounded by stunning architecture and wildlife. She later moved to New Delhi where she earned a Degree in Fashion Design. After relocating to the United States, Pundeer retired from her fashion career to devote herself entirely to painting. She has garnered a local following and has exhibited in galleries all over the Northeast.
