Antonella Sissa believes that art should reactionary, both while creating and while observing; that art should provide a stimulus and propose an alternative, evoking an active response. Sissa hopes that as her audience gazes upon her compositions, that they will become disarmed of any qualms in their lives and rather become engulfed in positivity. Free to decipher her work, she invites everyone to begin their forward-looking journey and to acknowledge that there is always a way out from the labyrinths of pain.
Sissa works her canvas with her bare hands, creating intricate forests of signs, myriad twirls of traces, and open hands extending from outstretched arms, struggling to break free. Each of her paintings is an aesthetic manifestation of her inner journey that she embarks on with each piece; a journey of reflection on human existence in a world that is often unjust. It is on this journey that Antonella Sissa searches for the paths wherein the end, there is light.
