Sandra Guy is an Australian artist with cultural roots in many countries. Born in Pittsburgh, Sandra grew up traveling with her parents and from an early age she was immersed in art. Her interest grew with frequent trips to art galleries and the many art books that decorated their home. After college, Sandra moved to the Snowy Mountains of North South Wales where she became intently interested in landscapes. There she created scenic paintings of the mountains focusing on expressing the sweeping and dramatic skylines. Later Sandra traveled to the Australian desert and was inspired by color and “the sublime”, a motif that would become the basis of many of her future works.
Sandra further investigated “the sublime” while attending a study tour of Paris, London and Amsterdam. She began adding road signs, houses and fences to the rural oil paintings she was most known for. While her work has received many accolades all over the world, Sandra paints first for her viewers. She aims to paint timeless landscapes that create a space for the viewer to enter the painting and engaging the viewer’s imagination.
