Grażyna Aneta Ochowiak is a painter and psychotherapist who is touched by the beauty of forms found in the plant and animal world. Seeking to render the essence of her dreams and the unconscious, she works with a mix of mediums to produce textured abstractions. Layering media; acrylics, oil, watercolors, and fabrics, the works speak to the interwoven pluralities of the mind. The cobalt and aquamarine tones resonate at a frequency emitting both sky and sea. The subject matter is reflective of her expression, yet she seeks to leave space for the viewer to interpret the representations as they may also uncover familiar images in the works.
A deep understanding and concern for the feelings of others, located in her practice as a therapist, shapes her work as an artist. Hoping to engage with the haptic structure of emotion through the visual, she creates on a large scale working also with instillation. Building worlds which affect the viewer there is a felt interdependency that extends beyond the human as they remain present with the works invoking a sense of oceanic feeling.
