Canadian artist Zaineb Shaban is known for her evocative three-dimensional artworks, tackling issues of history, identity, feminism, geography, and architecture. Using a mix of techniques, including 3D mixing and painting, acrylic paint, modeming paste, and resin, Shaban combines different textures in the frame, transporting the viewer forward and backward in time.
Art has been her passion, inspiration and career path in life. Her subsequent education and work, as an architect, influenced the subject matter and stylistic influences of her artwork. Shaban’s skills and subject matters have evolved from painting traditional scenes of socio-cultural significance towards depicting humanity’s temporal transcendence.
Being a Visual Contemporary Artist, her personal inspiration comes from her architectural discipline and from the fluid beauty of the natural world. She view her artistic forms of visual expression as architectural revelations; a revelation of how architecture is formed and transformed by nature through the passage of time. She utilize a dynamic appliqué technique to make dazzlingly ambitious and unique three dimensional paintings, in a wide range of abstract complex sceneries with interesting manipulation of light and shadow. Shaban’s also use different types of methods, forms, layers, gold leaves, textures, mosaic and modelling paste, along with acrylic paint to enhance the multidimensional spatial quality of her artwork.
