ARNAUD JOURNOU

Vernal Passages
April 1 – April 21, 2022
Reception: Thursday, April 7, 2022 6-8 PM

French artist Arnaud Journou’s playful artistic style can be best witnessed in his chromatic, iconographic depictions of Spider-Man, Marilyn Monroe, and stormtroopers. The volume of color and expression in each piece he commandeers is borderline audible; speaking to audiences with boundless energy articulated by Journou’s exclusive craft. Influenced by pop-art forms and staple artists like Jean-Michael Basquiat and Andy Warhol, Journou formulates his own designs in the mediums of acrylic and airbrush on linen, acrylic and ink, acrylic and gouache on canvas, and many more. He continues to create with the intent to evolve and to please not just himself, but also those who behold his art.

Journou has exhibited across the globe in cities such as Dubai, Paris and Brussels. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, he worked as a director of large key industrial accounts and as an employment agency manager. His atypical change in careers was encouraged by his wife who had discovered a box of his past works during a move several years ago. “It gave me back my confidence to such an extent that today I live it fully,” Journou says.
