The ultra-realistic drawings and paintings of American artist Von Coop reflect a deep understanding of the contours and complexities of visual representation, inviting the viewer into a feast of sumptuous color and marvelous detail. Over the past couple of years, Von Coop's art has evolved from black and white photorealistic portraits (graphite on paper) to full color, oil on canvas renderings. Yet Von Coop’s unique style remains consistent across his body of work, with his artistic hallmark being an ability to unfailingly capture the tiniest of details with regard to color, proportion, shading, and light.
Von Coop’s art is fueled primarily by a great passion for life, a deep love of family, strong musical roots, and the satisfaction of knowing he’s doing what he was born to do. As Von Coop explains, “Inspiration comes to me in many forms, with love being the driving force for much of my art.” Indeed, it is this very energy, this passion for life, that infuses Von Coop’s work and makes it so compelling to viewers, and so very memorable.
Von Coop currently lives and works in Chicago.
