Kaleidoscope of the Mind
December 29 – January 18, 2017
Reception: Thursday, December 29, 2016 6-8 PM

The vibrant and dynamic abstract expressionist paintings of Lithuanian artist Irma Lescinskaite offer the viewer a multidimensional and multilayered way of understanding our modern world. Infused with rich color and a flair for the symbolic, Lescinskaite creates works that are not only visually stimulating but that contain meaning that extends beyond the physical and embraces the spiritual and metaphysical layers of human existence.

Much of Lescinskaite’s art is based on a theoretical background, drawing from cultural, philosophical, and artistic themes, ideas, and tropes across human history. Through her visual imagery, she seeks to synchronize and synthesis the worldly and otherworldly realities that we all grapple with on a daily basis, integrating the modern world we have all come to know with our ancient cultural heritage. As Lescinskaite explains, “The goal is to include modern art in heritage. I try to use abstract, multilayered, and concentrated light in painting to actualize and bring new meaning into modern art.”

"I am very proud for not only completing the studies of arts in Vilnius academy of art, but also for the possibility to receive lessons for the famous American artists Nancy Spero and Leon Golub in Summer arts academy which was held in Austria 1996."

Irma Lescinskaite currently lives, works, and teaches as an associate university professor of fine arts in Klaipeda, Lithuania.
