Delicate and naïve is how modern painter Sigrid Thaler describes her work. The Italian-born artist explains that the purpose of her art “is to transmit the need, our need, for the rediscovery of beauty and simplicity.” Her works stand out through use of a variety of materials from wood, photos, and digital prints, along with acrylic colors, chalks, and enamels. Thaler also creates collages with paper that she crafts herself.
Thaler’s work focuses on the female form and she has recently found an influence in Japanese culture, which has resulted in adding gold leaf to her already unique mix of mediums. The artist has perfected and taught her own technique for painting on silk and fabric while also showing her talents as a skilled porcelain painter and sculptor. Her works have been exhibited throughout Europe and the United States. While she has won awards for her serious art, Thaler has also shown a lighter side, collaborating with CMON and Guillotine Games, which produces board games, emphasizing her philosophy,” I like to change and try new things in my works.”
