Merritt Spangler

Merritt Spangler is a multidisciplinary artist from North Carolina, and founder of the brand Broken Creative. Her sophisticated style of abstract expressionism reflects her vast capacity for emotions, as she pours her creative energy onto each canvas. In a sense, her pieces are emotions deconstructed and interrogated. As they release onto the canvas, they allow the viewer to escape into the aesthetic chaos of the work, and away from the world. The young artist’s creative fire is apparent, but it is her ability to communicate her own vulnerability and honesty, with both minimal and abstract gestures, onto the canvas that is most compelling.

Spangler employs traditional materials like acrylic paint, charcoal, pastels on paper or raw canvas, while opting for atypical tools for application. Her process involves working on multiple pieces at a time to create synergy between them. Spangler holds a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University and has a background in investigative journalism.
