Jodi DeCrenza creates work that pulsates with the power of positivity. In her Hastings-on-Hudson, NY studio, she enthusiastically explores emotions that energize her creativity. In an intuitive process, a kaleidoscope of radiant colors stirred by nature takes root including earthy beiges, ocean blues, grassy greens, sunny yellows, and fiery reds. Inspired by the influential impressionist painters Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Vincent Van Gogh, and the 20th-century abstract expressionists, DeCrenza joyously experiments with different forms of art. Wielding brushes and applying oil and acrylic pigments to canvas, she embarks on visceral journeys. The result is soothing landscapes, enigmatic figures and fierce fields of abstract organic shapes in alternating styles.
Translating the integration of the mind, body, and spirit into art feels natural for DeCrenza. Indeed, a successful career in health and fitness informs her artistic practice. Through her paintings, she aims to find the bountiful beauty in every day and share an optimistic attitude about life with viewers. DeCrenza has found purpose in painting. As such, she has entitled her body of work “My Soul’s Purpose.”
