Mexican artist Cuquis Quiroz was born into a family of internationally recognized artists but has only recently begun to engage her own talents, following the untimely death of her husband. Inspired and motivated by her children, the painter and illustrator translates her emotions, realities, and abstract ideas into an ethereal, romantic visual language. She employs oils, pastels, charcoals, and watercolors to create tone and detail in her pieces, which range from portraiture and figurative paintings, to animals and the natural world.
Through her work, Quiroz intends to tell valuable stories, with emotions that will stand the test of time and make an impact on people’s thoughts and moods with a single image or composition. She keeps an eye on the outside world, allowing it to influence her work in various ways. The artist has won several significant awards, and has toured her work at Museums in Mexico and internationally.
