As a professional writer and experienced worker in the fields of communication and marketing Courtney Muller turns to painting to share experiences of the non-verbal variety. She uses painting as a mode of communication and storytelling to express sensations and connect with viewers and their lived experiences. Muller’s paintings are non-figurative and abstract, implementing mark-making, texture, and chromatic relationships to convey mixtures of emotion.
During her artistic process, Muller simultaneously writes and paints, nurturing a deep relationship between her writing and visual art practice. She is an artist member of the Artist Association of Nantucet (AAN), and regularly exhibits her work at the AAN Gallery. Based in Baltimore, MD, Muller has been painting for over a decade. At first, she began with watercolor but now paints in a variety of mediums such as encaustic painting and oil painting. The painting is gestural, and she believes in experimenting with different mediums in order to express different tones, sensations, and emotions. Her process is meditative and intuitive, providing space for connection with herself and others.
