BETH CAVALCANTI

The 33rd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition
August 14 – August 25, 2018
Reception: Thursday, August 16, 2018 6-8 PM

Surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of charming, colonial Tiradentes, Brazilian ceramist Beth Cavalcanti easily finds energy and inspiration for her work. Using natural pigments to create earthy colors and tones, she employs the Japanese technique of Raku to create ceramics that embody the silence and nature of the countryside.

Cavalcanti studied art at the Guignard University of Art of Minas Gerais (UEMG) and the Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ). She runs atelier and guesthouse Espaço Terra in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where she lives and works as a painter, ceramist and art teacher.
