Themes of loneliness, sadness and the question, “why?” are omnipresent in the work of award-winning Belgian artist Cynthia Evers. Using a simple palette of black and white, she reproduces snapshots of reality with an intense realism that allows viewers to expand and contract moments that might otherwise go unexplored.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Arts in Liège, Evers taught painting and sculpture before accepting a job that required frequent travel to Africa. After giving up painting for 25 years, she picked up the brush again in 2011; art is now her professional occupation.
