Ashley Morgan creates artwork for viewers who wish to find beauty in the human form, and specifically the male nude. She is enthralled by the musculature of the male torso and seeks to draw as much beauty as possible from that source. Not reading much into what she creates, so as to avoid entrapping the work in a box before she creates it, Morgan paints from posed models, borrowing from the expressionist toolbox by using exaggerated and disproportionate shapes, coupled with vivid, bold colors to explore the expression of the human form. Morgan endeavors to go beyond the human figure, attempting to craft compositions which tease the imagination and allow her audience to find their own stories amidst her lines, shapes, and colors.
Prior to becoming a full-time professional artist, Morgan worked as a game designer for 15 years. She then left this career in order to create a technology-based nail polish company based around the idea of customers mixing colors that were personal to them. This idea has since flowed into her paintings, where she wields vibrant colors not to get her own feelings across, but to provide colors which viewers may find personal connections with.
