Georgian artist Pitanius attended the State Academy of Arts in Tbilisi, and it was while studying there that she fell in love with drawing ornaments. Her creative process and body of work are how she communicates her story; reflective on the pain, joy, and beauty that she has discovered through her experiences.
Pitanius' compositions are composed primarily by using Japanese ink and fountain pen, and at times combining other media such as acrylic, tempera, charcoal, and pastel. Each work is based on both her dreams and daily life; she is never certain what each composition will consist of until both aesthetically and narratively the work is fully realized. She has lived in Georgia, London, Amsterdam, and now New York; all of these places have influenced both her creative approach and subsequently her work. As an artist, Pitanius feels it’s important to be curious and appreciate the answers your curiosity brings by working them into your art.
