Paulina Sanchez advocates looking at life with an abstract perspective. This is exactly what she does in her artwork, created mainly with acrylic paint and sometimes adding unique materials on canvas. Sanchez’s process varies for each piece. Sometimes it begins with a pattern she envisages and aims to translate onto the canvas. Other times, it is based entirely on her emotions, and her output adopts a more Expressionist tone. No matter what, though, Sanchez derives inspiration from her current life experiences. She strives for each of her pieces to elicit an emotional response from the viewer so they feel a connection to the piece and, by extension, an unspoken connection to Sanchez herself, as Sanchez primarily considers her work an extension of herself.
Sanchez is inspired by strong, female artists who resiliently pushed forward because they held a great passion for art. Sanchez was born in California and, prior to her career as an artist, worked in a corporate position which left her feeling unsatisfied. Much like her artistic inspirations, she decided to pursue her passion and found her purpose in creating abstract artworks. Art provides a therapeutic outlet for Sanchez along with this deep sense of fulfillment, and it is this sense of gratification and profound passion that each of her artworks conveys.
