Patti Fontaine’s self-assigned goal is to “create a sensory response” from her audience. She does this by wielding her acrylic paint and various textures with as much force as a sculptor and as much energy as a dancer. Her abstracts swirl with broad, strong brushstrokes. Whether monochrome or bright, weighted colors, the paintings have gravity and solidity in space. With her ingenious compositions and patternwork, Fontaine creates abstracts that seem to give off light and cast their own shadows.
Fontaine lives in Peterborough, Ontario.
