Argentine artist Patricia Turin has long seen art as a conveyor of history, each image telling the stories, generation after generation, of how life is lived and experienced through time. Working in acrylic and mixed media on canvas, Turin tells her own stories, using surrealistic, figurative, and expressionistic elements to create a style all her own. Turin’s work is comprised of simple compositions and a lively array of colors, set against stark backgrounds. Figures are stylized, acting more as symbol than subject within the frame.
Above all, Turin is inspired by all the passion and love contained in the world around her - both the sad and happy moments that occur in everyday life - and this is reflected in her art. With her masterful use of color and form, Turin is able to transform those moments so familiar to human experience into lighthearted visions of meanings for her viewers, to remind them of what, in the end, life is really all about.
Patricia Turin currently lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
