Nancy V. Ridenour creates photographic images that echo across art history. Ridenour digitally builds her compositions by taking her photographs of cement sculptures apart and reassembling them. While she is inspired by the existing sculptures, she re-imagines them spatially and texturally for the page while simultaneously referencing different media. Her stark geometric shapes, against a sleek black background resonate as a timeless version of the classic questions of artists everywhere: What do form, line, and light communicate?
Ridenour was born in Schenectady, New York and today lives in Ithaca.
