Japanese contemporary artist Mieko Nakamura finds value in simple daily life. She creates works based on the aesthetic sense of Japanese culture, cultivated through tea ceremony, calligraphy, flower arrangement, and Japanese Poetry. The genre, materials, and production process of her work depend on her inspiration and sensibility, which she sources from moments in her daily life. There is a brightness, energy, and humor expressed across her lively canvases. As she strategically places calligraphy inks and paints onto the canvas, Nakamura places them organically and holistically, with an emphasis on spatial orientation. Her methods and styles offer a wholly contemporary aesthetic, accented by hints of her Japanese heritage. She hopes her works convey her desire for peace and simplicity.
