LEONARDO DIAZ

Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Fine Art Exhibition
September 16 - October 6, 2015
Reception: Thursday September 17, 2015 6-8 PM

Large scale acrylic on canvas landscapes, almost graphic in nature, with rich, vibrant colors reminiscent of the artist’s traditional Mexican culture characterize the work of Leonardo Diaz. Dedicated to the transmission of beauty and positive, pleasant sensations through visual art, as a painter Diaz aims to “provoke a moment of pleasure” in his viewers and invoke a long-lasting relationship in which empathy is felt above all. Drawn to painting nature, both from a micro and macro perspective, his works draw upon a long legacy of cultural vibrancy in the arts that are a part of Mexican history, including pre-colonial, colonial and present day narratives. Says Diaz of his beloved native home, “Art is in the air, we breathe it and live with it each day.” The artist also names the great master painters as deeply influential to his ongoing experimentation with color, composition and the intricate language of plastic arts.
