A self-taught artist, Kat Dennis has been capturing the wondrous natural beauty of Colorado photographically from a young age. Currently working with a Canon Rebel T3 camera, her brilliant shots depict everything from the tallest mountain peak to the smallest of ecosystems. Showcasing the environment’s deeply restorative power via her photographic vision, within her vivid compositions is the routine chaos and surprising sense of order that characterizes the world of insects, foliage, birds, and natural disaster. Whatever crosses Dennis’s lens is fair game for this avid recorder of Colorado’s visual domain. Interested in the “split second” that is photographic time and the exactitude of each individual shot, Dennis’s limited edition prints are largely unedited and completely free of digital manipulation. The result is a series of images that ultimately offer a glimpse into the majestic wild that is as pure and raw as the subject matter itself.
A Colorado native, Kat Dennis has remained in the environment that inspired her in her youth and continues to inspire her. Currently residing in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, she is a freelance photographer and the director of KatagramStudios.
