When Jiantao Qu left his small village for Beijing, he became fascinated by the patterns formed by large crowds. He began to incorporate the crush of the crowd into his work, manipulating its flow and redistributing his figures in geometric configurations. Marked by faded pastel colors, his work reveals both the individual and the wider picture. “I try to describe human relations,” Qu says. “The relationship between human beings and cities, as well as the relationship between human beings and the world.”
Jiantao Qu lives and works in Beijing, China.
