The elegant sculptures of George Pavel take the minimalist, aerodynamic aesthetic of Brâncuși into the twenty-first century. An intellectual and philosophical artist, Pavel views his work as a reflection on the nature of the universe and the spirituality of humankind. “Throughout his spirit is the man also a universe,” he says. Pavel’s emotive sculptures in bronze, stainless steel, and alabaster are compelling because of the way they perfectly balance opposing forces and elements: the earthbound weight of stone and metal meet in flowing, weightless, and effortless formations. The shine of a perfect finish against the raw, unhewn texture of stone, and the interplay of form and space, light and shade in each of Pavel's pieces creates a sense of architectural dynamism. Pavel’s sculptures truly look like something one would find at the beginning or end of time, an expression of the building blocks of the cosmos and the transformative power of nature.

Born in Romania and now a German citizen, Pavel attended the Academy of Arts in Bucharest and has won many awards for his work.
