March 28 - April 17, 2014
Reception: Thursday April 3, 2014 6-8 PM

Electrically expressive colors distinguish the work of Italian painter Gabriele Tamburini. Sensitive to hue and tone, this artist exploits color in order to suggest a plethora of human emotions through paint. Intoxicated by the human form, Tamburini begins each of his works with the figure before exploring and expanding on the possibility of representational painting. Thus, he blends realism with abstraction to create evocatively vibrant paintings. His brushwork masterful and his perspective innovative, Tamburini pushes the boundaries of contemporary art-making practice. Unrestricted by aesthetic or school, he merges elements from styles such as Neoplasticism, Pop art, Abstract Expressionism and street art in order to create a style that uniquely reflects his particular vision of our world. “What I am mostly interested in is the passing from figurative to abstract, the possibility to extrapolate from the recognizable image a deeper, emotional, irrational and subjective reality which could go over the naturalistic entity,” explains Tamburini. In this pursuit, he illuminates the intrinsic beauty of the people and places around us.

An Italian native, Gabriele Tamburini’s work has been exhibited around the world.
