Francisco Coronel Gandara's career as an architect, horse breeder and trainer informs and inspires his oeuvre; the fluidity of his brushwork, and careful handling of light and color, reflect the graceful movement and majesty of his equine subjects.
As an artist, Francisco draws influence from different communities and regions of his homeland of Mexico, as well as his years spent in Europe doing consulate work. He paints with acrylics on canvas and oil on wood to create landscapes and equine portraiture, as well as expressionist works that combine color-study, abstraction, and the surreal. In his work, we see a call to emotion as he compels his audience to look beyond the presented imagery and consider the deeper meaning.
Coronel Gándara has worked with galleries in the United States and Internationally, including exhibition n Austria, Mexico, and Slovakia.
