Fátima Sarute creates colorful compositions that harmonize an array of mark making techniques, colors, and patterns. Her work pulses with lines and forms twisting and splashing on top of one another. Pastel pink, lavender, and yellow border one another, interrupted by crisp turquoise. Many of the forms are outlined or interrupted by thin, deftly laid black lines. Figurative elements break into the composition, complicating the already map like forms. She blends oil painting and black ink to create cartographic scenes that bleed into the experience of a place.
Sarute lives and works in Buenos Aires.
