Diane Schroeder uses oil, mixed media and collage to create compositions that suggest fictional landscape in an abstract interpretation. Rectangles blur into one another while subtle atmospheric hues blend into lines defining texture and tone.
Schroeder makes use of the contrast between light and dark, and between oil and water based materials, to coax out images with distinct mark making and forms. Layers of paint, paper, and copper and gold leaf create an overlapping motion running horizontally through each work.
Diane Schroeder lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.
