DANA INGESSON

In and Out of the Garden
May 11 – May 31, 2019
Reception: Thursday, May 16, 2019 6-8 PM

Dana Ingesson works primarily in watercolor, creating otherworldly scenes that blend figuration and abstraction. Her chosen medium acts almost like a language. The marks that cover the paper she paints on seems reminiscent of Chinese ideograms—an impression that is reinforced by the minimalism of her palet, which only uses black, white, and sometimes a single additional color.

The Great Wide Open is a work of almost pure abstraction. What gives the work its haunting character is the economy of line and color, centrifugally spelling out a visceral message that cannot be intellectually deciphered.
