Take a virtual tour of the May 19, 2017 exhibition at Agora Gallery

In response to the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of the Gallery's staff and public, Agora Gallery will be temporarily closed beginning March 14th. We join many cultural institutions across New York City and the country who are also closing to help limit the further spread of the virus.

We will continue to monitor the situation and re-evaluate early next week. Please check back here and on our social media channels for updates. We look forward to welcoming our staff and visitors back to the Gallery soon.

The Portal to Dreams
May 19 - June 8, 2017 View Photos & Videos

Portal to Dreams is a new group exhibition that offers alternative visions of reality expressed through abstraction, surrealism, and technical experimentation. This collection of artists features three painters of the human form: one who creates psychological studies using expressive brushstrokes, one who constructs bodies out of geometrical shapes and tempered colors, and one who paints modern narrative scenes containing bodies treated surrealistically. There is also an abstract oil painter who uses winding lines and textures to create intricate shapes. Finally, there is a digital artist whose richly colored patterns move very slowly in a new kind of genre. The pieces in Portal to Dreams are undeniably bold and forward-thinking. Agora Gallery was established by the late Miki Stiles, MFA, to provide opportunities to artists entering the global art market. Located in the heart of the famous Chelsea art district, the gallery occupies the ground floor of 530 West 25th Street.
