Often comprising media as ephemeral as tea, hair, or lint, the works by Chilean-Ukrainian artist Luba Zygarewicz incorporate such materials in order to explore the growth and expiration of time. While still making static, wall-specific works, the nature of time is the foundational subject-matter her work is meant to address.
Tagging my Days gives full expression to Zygarewicz’s representation of time as a form of dailiness. The pervasive use of tea stains, which mingle with ink, demonstrate how art can serve as a kind of net, ensnaring the often recalcitrant material of everyday experience.
