Diana Vargas is a professional photographer based in New York City. Originally born in Columbia, Diana has experience within several formats of photography including portraiture, marketing photography, macro photography, and conceptual photography. The artist is deeply inspired by her children, as well as her journey with faith. Photography and faith similarly provide the artist with a sense of freedom to the usual routines of everyday life.
Dianas’ central medium is photography, but she also prints out photographs on canvas and paints the artwork into a three-dimensional piece using acrylic paint. She explores themes surrounding religion and spirituality while creating her artwork, but the finished products are always open to the viewer for interpretation. The composition and subject matter vary greatly in each artwork, depicting posed figures, composed still lives, and surreal sets. Diana focuses on every detail, creating narratives within each scene. Her studio is a space to explore truths and faith and her resulting photographs depict scenes inciting awe and wonder.
