Jiabao Sun’s black and white photographs have a mutinous feeling, oceanic in their languid constriction. Melancholic as well in their quiet beauty, Jiabao’s photographs capture the delicate moment of a windswept field or a shorn flower. A patchwork of rice grains spread in a rectangular formation in another of Jiabao’s contemplative pieces. She uses traditional experimental and alternative photographic processes to create imagery that exists in poetic meditation. Jiabao studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she received a Master of Fine Arts degree in photography.
Jiabao Sun lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where she works at Jackson Fine Art Gallery.
