Iranian-American photographer Maryam Rahmanian has earned a digital display presentation of her selected artwork at Agora Gallery as part of the 34th Chelsea International Fine Art Competition.
Rahmanian’s realistic portrayals of life in Iran highlight the huge cultural gap between generations and the tensions between modernity and conservatism. Her place in the competition recognizes the obstacles she overcame working as a news/documentarian photographer in a field not usually reserved for women in the country where she grew up. Rahmanian is gratified that her pictures stimulate audiences to think, react, and discuss.
Rahmanian's work will be on digital display August 10 - 20, 2019.
