Katharina Acht uses photography as a drawing tool in order to make new connections between various elements in her images. She also experiments by combining photography with ornamental ink drawings.
Acht finds inspiration in nature and urban environments, alike. She is interested in the lines, forms and colors found in the Alpine landscapes of her native Austria, but she also collects rich photographic details of cities. In her series “Meer” (“Sea”), she explores the seascape, achieving a powerful effect through juxtaposition of subtly varied images.
