Gia A. Sabatini is an abstract multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Sabatini uses painting as a way to communicate her thoughts and emotions. In the rawest form, she reflects what she sees and feels at a given time. Once a way of dealing with the loss of her sister, Sabatini has now embraced life. Using mixed media materials from coffee grounds to tire shreds as well as various paints, inks, resins and modeling paste, Sabatini's works feature an interplay of texture, color, and abstract expressions. She enjoys mixing materials and observing how their personalities interact on canvas. The juxtaposition of thick paints and materials with watery and soft materials is a narrative theme throughout her work. Both having their own personalities and when together they either marry or fight. The juxtaposition of the harsh thick acrylic with the soft thin watercolors and fluid light alcohol ink tell a story throughout Sabatini’s art.
The artist holds a degree in graphic design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but is creatively drawn to painting and mixed media work outside of her career in graphic design.
