Budding, decorative imagery, birds, and natural vegetation are showcased in their most whimsical form in Charmaine Nadine Osaerang’s compositions. In pursuit of fully encompassing her chosen subject matter, Osaerang begins her process by first cataloging and collecting a variety of photographic, aspirational images, before beginning to sketch. Attracted to delicate, bold and playful colors, she creates on paper, canvas, or board, using graphite, watercolor, and acrylic.
“I draw inspiration from nature, particularly from the flora and fauna,” says the artist. Recently, Osaerang has become more inclined to depict animals within an intimate setting in their natural surroundings. In these tableaus, she seeks to draw in her audience with imaginative backgrounds and lush, imaginative or even unusual scenarios, furthering the potential narrative within each piece. Through her work, she offers viewers the opportunity to delight in their own mindfulness and consider its impact on far-reaching places.
