Dutch artist and rock ‘n roll musician, Erik Neimeijer, uses layers of paints to create his large-scale, energetic contemporary paintings. To create his vibrant pieces, the artist spray paints and acrylics, and finishes with resin. Neimeijer incorporates aesthetic influences from music and art history, specifically folk art, impressionism, and fauvism. His scenes depict ordinary people indulging in life; paintings of gambling men, planes, bulls, musicians, cars, lovers and tropical scenes are infused with a Caribbean vibe and a loose, recognizable style.
Neimeijer splits his time between the Netherlands and the Dutch-Carribean. He opened his own gallery in Holland in 2020, and exhibits his work in galleries, museums, and art fairs around the world. The artist has gained significant fame as a musician in the famous Dutch rock band Bokkers.
