VANESSA GONZALEZ

Collective Exhibition
June 24 – July 14, 2020
Reception: Thursday, June 25, 2020 6-8 PM

Mexican American artist Vanessa Gonzalez creates work that explores the sense of cultural dislocation and dissociation, based on her experience of moving from Mexico to the United States.

Although she was born in Texas, she was brought up in Mexico and did not return to the United States until the age of 17. As such, her work explores the feelings inherent in the experience of feeling like an outsider who constantly needs to explain and justify her cultural identity despite residing in the country of her birth.
