Cyndl Brown may still consider herself a novice, but her work often reflects an emotional maturity beyond her years; having found solace in painting since childhood. Having taken a hiatus from painting and not returning to engaging in her creative process until after graduating from college, Brown believes herself to be somewhat of a mad scientist; skeptical of a new composition during its preliminary stage and often spending time rabidly experimenting with different sculpting knives and paint bottles. It is only when she lets the chaotic process play out that she reaches a moment of clarity within her work.

Creating large-scale compositions, Brown's work is always intricately dense with smattered layers of color that signify the complexity of the human condition. “I’ll see it’s potential and get the urge to add more color,” says Brown, “and all of a sudden a second painting is created on top of the original.” Brown’s process represents the constant strive for a life of good intention and her complex work being demonstrative of overcoming hardships by rigorously painting over them.
