Kirill Kurbatov studied biomedical engineering and psychology at his hometown universities in Ryazan, Russia. Through self-education and practice, however, Kurbatov picked up skills in filmmaking and photography, whereupon he expanded his techniques to produce fine art images.
Kurbatov’s realistic views on life, derived from the works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, are reinforced through the images he captures of things that are normally not seen without a camera: some places, people, and small things which tend to go unrecognized and often dissipate from the viewer’s peripheral.
