CARLOS SALAZAR

The 33rd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition
August 14 – August 25, 2018
Reception: Thursday, August 16, 2018 6-8 PM

The work of Carlos Salazar is motivated by an interest in social justice. The Colombian-born painter is wont to realize works that reflect social problems native to his country. Violence and political strife are only two of the themes routinely found in his work; yet in the painting Cell, these themes are manifest more by implication than direct depiction. Although the structure of the prison seems almost beautiful, one senses in the picture an underlying agitation, a riotous rage, just barely kept in check by the prison’s architecture.
