The Odyssey Within: Fine Art by Greek and Italian Artists -
The Odyssey Within is a captivating survey of modern-day artists from Greece and Italy. The artistic conceptions vary dramatically while retaining a distinctive European character attentive to the human condition. Works of both quiet introspection and visual bravado are included, offering a unique look into the contemporary art coming from these two prominent Mediterranean locales.

Figuratively Speaking - The human figure has been the fundamental muse for as long as people have been creating art. Far from the primitive scrawling of cave paintings and drawings, the artists in Figuratively Speaking have developed an eloquent and sophisticated language to explore their internal and external milieus. The works in this magnificent exhibition pictorially expose issues of conflict and resolution, juxtaposing abstraction and realism with existential themes that speak of the human condition.

In Reverie of Form - Eerily beautiful sculptures have been paired with soulful portraiture and sprawling landscapes to explore a wide breadth of contemporary art from around the globe. This grouping of artists yearns for the simple pleasures that seem to bind us all together, holding this ideal up to remind us that just beyond our work-a-day lives, lies a enduring moment of inspiration and wonder.
The Revelry of Energy - This collection of sublime abstract works is from a select group of artists who are crafting a very personal artistic language and technique. Very modern in their appeal, the paintings comprising The Revelry of Energy display a sense of boundless imagination, while peering deep within the overlooked crevices of our everyday perceptions. The brilliant colors and unique styles on view explore the artists’ personal narratives and visionary experiences.
Contemporary Perspectives - Exciting works of sculpture, painting, digital art and drawing are brought together to survey the state of contemporary art. The artists included in Contemporary Perspectives have traversed very distinctive avenues of creativity. Yet this group remains unified in a common spirit of optimism and a determined belief in the power of art. The works explore both our modern civilization and its pastoral roots through slick abstractions and stunning photorealism.
Enigmatic Visions- Fantastical creations that arrive at the furthest reaches of imagination await the viewers of Enigmatic Visions. This group of artists was selected because they are seekers who delve beneath everyday appearances into unknown worlds of inspiration and splendor. Through their abundant abilities and unique voices the artists included in this exciting art exhibition speak directly to our souls and refresh our spirits.
Interpretative Realms - Alternate realities and pseudo-universes are in store for the visitors of Interpretive Realms. Wild and energetic, this is an impressive grouping, where one may discover traces of the Fauves, Surrealists, and other purveyors of the avant-garde. These creative minds convey the excitement and ingenuity of early modern art in our contemporary age. They have each developed highly personal and inventive artistic language that will enrich the imagination of audiences.

Matrix of the Mind - Japanese art, long cherished for its fluidity and understated elegance, has continued to inspire artists in the 21st Century. Modern and yet timeless, Agora Gallery’s Matrix of the Mind is a survey of talented contemporary Japanese artists. With their appreciation for the natural world and the spiritual mind, these works will captivate the soul with their subtle philosophies and passionate beauty. |
The Dexterity of Form - An exciting selection of imagery hovering between abstraction and figuration, this exhibition offers a new understanding of modern social and human issues through art. A balancing act between still-lifes and a perspective of urban life succeeds in capturing a veneration of nature in contrast with a preoccupying social climate.
The Rhythm of Color - Extraordinary portrayals of figures and landscapes all find their way into this dynamic, refreshing and uncompromising collection. From simple planes expressing the pure, clean beauty of countryside to a collision of colors that trigger raw feelings of passion and desire, the use of rich color and texture evoke the rhythms of natural forces and emotions, bridging the gap between figure and landscape. |

Artist Spotlight - Marisa Atha
Seizing the opportunity to be seen in the Chelsea art scene is one that the artist Marisa Atha could not resist. After being one of last year’s selected artists, she elected to be represented by Agora Gallery.
California native Marisa Atha has traveled across three continents to over twenty countries to capture cityscapes and landscapes with her digital camera. A "seeker of cultures, art forms, languages, music and general samplings of the plentiful social traditions and interactions within grasp," she captures these subtle tones and flavors in her photos and reveals new facets of the worlds she traverses to her viewers. Using a keen eye for perspective and deft enhancement techniques, she makes the intangible tangible...and memorable.
"Deboarding the plane from California, I was curious whether the trip, and the gallery specifically, would live up to my expectations. I walked into the evening reception for the 23rd Chelsea International Art Competition Exhibition, and realized just how honored I was to show my work in such a place. Agora Gallery is a stark, beautiful canvas just waiting to adorn itself with the artwork of the most talented modern artists from so many different countries. This competition allowed me the opportunity to later become represented by the gallery for a year, which I was happy to accept. Working with such a professional and gifted staff has, and will be, my pleasure."
