Aymeric NOA
|
It is necessary to understand the atypical and peculiar course of Aymeric NOA
in order to realize the depth of his metaphorical, allegorical and mystical representations
in his neo-figurative paintings.
Aymeric NOA has painted since childhood. He first exhibited at 12 years old even
then achieved success.
At 16 years old, he created lifelike portraits of his family, and learned drawing
and painting techniques from specialized books. He undertook scientific university
studies until he was 23 years old and during this time abandoned his art a bit.
But at 25 years old, a "vision" announcing the death of a dear person contradicted
his beliefs and leaded him into a new world to be explored : he began to explore
Astrology and Psychology. His artworks from this period principally referred to
astrological symbolism.
At 34 years old he suffered over the death of his father, and accepted from beyond
numerous messages through the automatic drawing technique. Fascinated by the world
beyond life and the paranormal, Aymeric NOA began to write a book, which was never
published, about the senses and the essence of life and death.
It was only in 1997 at 39 years old that he decided to embrace his painter's career
to say with pictures what he could not with words.
Sadly, in 2001, at 43 years old, a life-changing accident immured him in wheelchair
and isolated him. Patiently and bravely he gradually re-learned to walk and re-found
his easel.
Ever since then the artist sublimates his love of beauty and life in all that it
includes in the way of lights and colors. He enters wholly with body and mind into
his work in structured combinations of lines, colors and volumes with a frank sensuality.
Throughout his art, we discover the sensibility of a hurt man who nonetheless conveys
to us a message of hope and love which transcends his suffering to bring us the
joy and pleasure of living while wondering about death.

Mine is the sort of painting that cannot but seize you. It takes you away to a spiritual
place. The first crucial element is the sense of movement: it is unhindered and
opens up fanciful worlds in which your mind is free to wander about - as in a dream,
a nightmare or a fantasy. It is idealized and mastered by the ideogram which works
as a cross between landscape and pure meaning. Other important aspects are color
and matter: the impact of red against black could be either violence or thought
brought to burning point. The polychrome kindles the mystery of representation.
The cerulean blues entice you to fly away or to meditate. There is also a certain
suggestiveness in the material applied in a thin film here, a thick layer there.
One would be tempted to call it “free onirical figuration”.

Born in 1960 in Paris, I found my first source of inspiration from my father, a
craftsman in wrought iron, and my uncle, who was a sculptor of metal. That is why
one finds in my paintings influences like bronze powder, aluminium powders, iron
ore, sheets of gold, money. My work is entirely focused on the search for new techniques.
I was awarded a bronze medal at the International Contest of the National Federation
of French Culture.

Gérard Gantois
|
Born June 6th, 1925 in Oissel, Gérard Gantois showed from a young age a deep
passion for drawing, and created his first sketches about the age of 12 years old.
Awarded a diploma to the School of Fine Arts, and later working as an engraver,
typographer and commercial artist, in 1974 a new career opened up for him as he
began to fall under the influence of the American hyperrealist movement. His admiration
for Dürer, Holbein, and Dali continues to urge him to perfect his creations with
a singular determination, developing his own brilliant technique along the way.
He is a master in the art of the image which he handles using acrylic or watercolor,
an extremely unusual choice for a hyperrealist. Gérard Gantois’ main themes are
the automobile, the aeronautics, and the feminine body … Gérard Gantois's work has
a presence within numerous museums (Volkswagen in Germany, Zeppelin in the Low countries,
Vascoeuil in France) and in the embassy of Brazil in Paris, many companies, and
the collections around the world. He dedicates 5 hours daily to his passion.

Sophie Raine
|
Sophie Raine’s career is quite an atypical one, since she started attending
Art College at the age of 37. The grand-daughter of famous French actress Denise
Grey, she chose a different artistic way to express herself: sculpture. She creates
her work with a seldom used material, stainless steel. Cutting out, polishing, twisting
and welding this hard yet elastic and shining material, she brings to life gracious
and poetic figures.
Lightness, harmony and rhythm: these are the sensations projected by the sculptures
of Sophie Raine.

“There is actually neither beautiful style, nor handsome drawing and color, there
is only one beauty, that of the revealing truth.”
In echo with this sentence of Auguste Rodin’s, the almost imperceptible universe
of the artist is offered to us.
Spilling out from the waste of contemporary societies, the supports of its industry
(industrial carcasses, pallets, and metallic parts) are spread out in the workshop…
Electric colors flash dramatically from these objects. Sometimes violent, sometimes
irrational, they lay bare the tears and wounds of artifacts…
Fed by the qualities of the object, striking and colorful work comes into being,
where the quest of truth appears like a fight. Pleasure and suffering, wholeness
and tearing are revealed to us, bringing us face to face with the fragility of things
and beings.
Refusing repetitive process, I engage in constant evolution, to show the truth of
the things so that objects become a basis for life in a poetic construction. “
