Atousa Foroohary didn't discover her artistic talent until young adulthood while living in her native Iran .
It was there the young woman developed what would become her future career at age 18. For the last 15 years, Foroohary who moved to North York five years ago, has dedicated herself to her art, featuring her work in galleries and exhibitions across the city.
The Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue area resident can now add an exhibit in the United States to her resume as she was one of the 12 Canadian artists chosen to be part of the Beyond Border: An Exhibition of Fine Art from Canada at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea , New York City.
The exhibit, which opened Jan 2, runs until Jan 23.
While Foroohary is known for incorporating portraits into her portfolio, her passion can be found in colorful and detailed environmental landscapes, including for ests, trees and bodies of water.
"The landscaped are magical and colorful in Toronto," said the full-time artist, who paints in oils and acrylics.
"I love my work. It's hard to find a market when you are trying to sell. I am for tunate that I have found galleries to display my work."
